"Lord let not these sparrows fall"

In Loving Memory of R. David Springs

Born on August 26, 1932, and called home to his eternal reward on August 22, 2021, R. David Springs lived a life marked by intellect, adventure, and unwavering faith. As a dedicated chemical engineer and passionate private pilot, he embodied the spirit of innovation and exploration. Yet, above all, he was a man of deep conviction, whose every endeavor was rooted in his devotion to Jesus Christ. It is my ultimate honor to be his son, and through this page, I dedicate his memory while proclaiming the faith that guided us both.

A Life of Wisdom and Faith

My father, R. David Springs, was more than a professional achiever; he was a beacon of wisdom in our family. His career as a chemical engineer showcased his brilliant mind, solving complex problems with precision and creativity. As a private pilot, he took to the skies with a sense of awe for God's creation, always mindful of the fragility and beauty of life. He taught me that true success isn't measured in earthly accomplishments but in how we steward the gifts God has given us.

In everything he did, Dad honored the Lord. His faith in Christ was not a Sunday ritual but a daily walk. He lived by the words of Colossians 3:17: "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." This verse encapsulates his approach to life—whether in the lab, behind the controls of an aircraft, behind a camera lense, or at home with family. We seek to carry on this legacy, honoring his wisdom in all we do, ensuring that our actions reflect the love and truth of Jesus.

Our Declaration of Faith

This page stands as a testament to our unshakeable faith in Christ Jesus. We believe that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and that through His sacrifice on the cross, we have eternal hope. Everything we pursue—our work, our passions, our relationships—is done to glorify His name. As it says in Proverbs 3:6, "In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Dad exemplified this, and we commit to following in his footsteps, trusting God's providence in every step

The Sparrow's Prayer: A Legacy of Trust

Before every flight, my father would pray a simple yet profound prayer: "Lord, let not these sparrows fall." This prayer, inspired by Matthew 10:29-31, reminded him—and now us—of God's sovereign care:

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." (NIV)

Dad acknowledged that while we navigate the uncertainties of life, as he often did in the air, nothing escapes the Father's watchful eye. On August 22, 2021, he received his greatest set of wings, soaring into the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly. Though we miss him, we rejoice knowing he is with Christ, and we draw comfort from the same promise that sustained him.

Honoring His Memory

As we continue on our journey into the sky, and in life, we pledge to live lives that honor R. David Springs' wisdom and our shared faith. May this page inspire others to seek Christ, to trust in His care like the sparrows, and to pursue excellence in all things for His glory. If you're reading this, know that you are valued by God far more than you can imagine. Turn to Him, and let not your sparrow fall.
